SCIAME 1 (swarm one)

their movement generates sound patterns with the aid of a modified Speak & Spell toy.

EXPLANATION
tiny pieces of paper are attached with thin cotton strings to a fan and float in the air, illumated by neon Wood lights.
Their movement influences the magnetic field generated by a theremin antenna. This is then converted to midi signals and
sent to a modified TI Speak and Spell toy. The midi flow triggers different rom addresses in the Speak and Spell
speech synthesis memory banks generating an ever-changing soundscape of phonetic glitches and word fragments.

REQUIREMENTS
a sound system (stereo amplified and four speakers), an Electrix MoFX Mk2 unit, all other hardware will be provided by artist.
the installation should be place in a small darkened room on its own.
